Admissions Criteria
- Applicants must be offered admission to 91°µÍøÊÓÆµ as an Early Action or Early Decision applicant in one of the majors of study listed below.
- Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to advancing UVM’s Our Common Ground Values.
- Applicants are required to be U.S. Citizens applying for first-year, full time admission to UVM. External or Internal Transfer and International applicants are not eligible for consideration.
- Students admitted to multiple UVM programs – Honors College, Liberal Arts Studies Program (LASP) for example – will have to choose to participate in STEM Scholars or the alternate.
- Current UVM students are not eligible to transfer into the STEM Scholars Program.

To Apply:
STEP 1
To be considered for the STEM Scholars program, prospective students who are pursuing eligible majors and meet the admission criteria (listed above) should apply to the 91°µÍøÊÓÆµ using the Common or Coalition application link below by November 1st for either Early Action or Early Decision I.
There is no separate application required, though students are encouraged to express their interest in STEM Scholars by providing their contact information below or emailing STEMScholars@uvm.edu.
STEP 2
Students admitted Early Action or Early Decision I will be notified of their eligibility for STEM Scholars in mid to late December. To be considered, students must complete the required short answer prompt (below) that will be due in early January.

How do you hope to use UVM’s R1 research environment and the STEM Scholars community to grow as a leader who exemplifies UVM’s Our Common Ground Values and creates inclusive and impactful change in STEM fields?
STEP 3
Students selected to advance will be notified in late January/early February. Students need to confirm attendance in one of the following options:
Attend the STEM Scholars: Leading Change session as part of the UVM Admitted Student Day programs on either Friday, February 13th or Friday, February 20th, 2026.
OR
Attend the STEM Scholars: Leading Change virtual session on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
STEP 4
Students participate in either the on-campus event or the virtual session. Candidates must participate in one of the two options to be considered for the STEM Scholars: Leading Change program.
STEP 5
Students will be notified of acceptance into the STEM Scholars: Leading Change program in late March. You must confirm your attendance by May 1st.
STEP 6
Enrolled STEM Scholars must attend the fully-funded six-week STEM Scholars: Leading Change Summer Bridge program starting in early summer. It is our welcoming of STEM Scholars to the UVM community as you move into your residence hall and meet your new cohort.
