Dan Peipert is a lecturer in the Dept. of Biology for the undergraduate neuroscience program. Dan completed his PhD in Neuroscience at UVM focusing on the role of the gut commensal bacterium, Akkermansia muciniphila, and dietary fiber in mouse models of multiple sclerosis. Dan also studied Neuroscience as an undergraduate student at UVM. Between undergraduate and graduate school, Dan worked as a consultant for a local biomedical consulting group and as a research assistant at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, researching environmental risk factors for ALS. Outside of UVM, Dr. Peipert enjoys running, skiing at Smuggs, preparing for his next dungeons and dragons campaign, and tending to his garden and chickens.
